East Tamaki Primary After School Learning Centre

The Primary School Centre opened its doors on Monday March 3rd 2003. This is the first of the Learning Centres to be based in a School. Located in a purpose build facility, the programme provides students with a tutors and an Online Teacher (via video conferencing).

The Centre's focus is to support the development of students literacy, an area identified by the community through Project AWHI community consultation.

The centre is presently running trials at this centre on a Literacy project that works both with the children on individual learning plans and their families, including mums and dads helping at the centre and home visits.

The pilot encourages the joy of learning, in seeking help (problem solving), social skills development, & developing learning styles that are familiar to the children's cultural and community backgrounds.
