Bearing Fruits

Written by: Heidi Kittredge

Today we returned to Nyamata to visit both the children and the women’s cooperative.

We started the morning with a children’s activity, fruit of the spirit. Jenn lead the activity explaining that we can honor God and bring more happiness in the world by being more like God. Several of the children gave examples of what they do at home and school that demostrates each of the fruits of the spirit.

The children also received a coloring page and was sent home with a juice, cookies, and a lollipop.

We spent the afternoon with the women. We met with the women in March 2023. Some of the women set goals for themselves, others felt alone, isolated and hopeless. The Team continues to be in awe of the accomplishments each of the women have made. The women met their goals and some surpass their goals.

Beatrice’s goal was to sell her vegetables in the marketplace. Today, we learned not only does Beatrice sell her vegetables in a marketplace, she also has a contract with a school to provide tomatoes. She told us she is now able to pay her children’s school fees.

“I am a women who can contribute to my family”. - Beatrice

Look at Beatrice in 2023 and now in 2024.

We as woman regardless of where in live in the world, want to feel confident, be smart, provide for ourselves and our family. Now, imagine wanting to accomplish these goals living in extreme poverty.

AWHI could not be more proud of these women. They put their faith in God, worked hard and are now beginning to bear the fruits of their accomplishments.
