We Have Arrived

Written by: Liz Henrich (Mbabazi)

Our first full day in Rwanda started at 3 AM at the guest house in Kigali. We slept a few hours and then after some housekeeping with money exchange, we visited the Child Hope Center at Kimisagara.

This particular place holds special meaning to Stephen and me.  Three of our family’s sponsor children go to school here and we were able to visit with them and their moms.

We are so fortunate to be able to see these kids year after year and see their progress and how much they have grown.  We have seen our own sponsored child go from a child to almost a man in just a few years.

After good-bye hugs from kids and moms we enjoyed a delicious lunch at one of our favorite spots in Kigali.  Then we loaded up the van and drove 2 hours east to  Kayonza where we will spend several days meeting with a number of women cooperative groups and interacting with their children.

This is the heart of our work here. We are looking forward to developing long-lasting relationships and seeing lives being transformed.

Prayers for safe travels on the road are appreciated.
